The Captain Kirk flesh fly was designed by our friends at Newhalen Lodge. It is an ultra-effective swinging fly for Rainbows and Dollies. It is tied in the same style as a Dolly Llama but is much lighter and easier to cast.

During those times when grayling and rainbows get ultra fussy, the Griffith's Gnat can save the day. The CDC tuft on this fly makes seeing this tiny little fly a whole lot easier.

Alaskan trout in lakes can often be enticed with a big fly that is stripped in. They don't get much bigger or juicier than the Chernobyl Ant. This fly will leave you with a grin when that big trout, grayling or pike engulfs it.

The Chernobyl Ant Black Red is just the ticket when you need a high-floating, attractor-style dry fly.  The red under body is like a bullseye for trout (especially cutthroat!) and the orange & white "sighters" on top make tracking this fly in the water simple.

Rainbows, grayling and cutthroat are all suckers for a big dry fly now and then. Early season in the rivers or lake fishing any time, the Black Chernobyl Ant can be dead drifted or stripped with great success.

Chubby Chernobyl’s float high, imitate a number of different insects on the surface, are very lifelike on the water.  You can drop a nymph (or bead!) off the back of them, and they drive trout crazy.

This wicked little fry pattern is a fish catcher. Just a hint of flash from the pearlescent body, a sparse squirrel tail wing, big eyes and a red throat. All packed in a one-inch-long fly.

When a darker pattern is in order, the Black Chumpy is ideal. This fly really fishes well in dark, off-color or tannic water.

All pink Clousers are money! Fat sea run Dollies and Cutts can't stay off them and silvers, chums, and pinks crush them on sight. You won't find this fly anywhere but at AFFG.

The "Cop Car" AK Clouser is one of those stealthy color combos. It is one of our favorite "under the radar" silver flies in a #2. And it's a deadly salmon smolt imitation for spring rainbows and Dolly Varden.

The All Black Clouser Minnow is a stealthy coho fly as well as a dynamite rainbow trout pattern. The solid black with a hint of green flash is all it takes to make it happen.

If you could only choose one color of this fly it would be Dirty Sock. This is the color that opened our eyes to this pattern. After a 4th completely tangled bead rig on a small stream, it was really nice to swing this fly with on a floating line with no split shot, indicator or anything else and catch a ton of fish!

Frosted Flesh is the change up color to try when tan or white are not producing. Fish it on a floating line or a short fast sink tip.

The Conehead Autumn Splendor is another big rainbow magnet. It is top flight searching fly that is money in deep runs and around root wads. Strip or swing this fly and hang on. The heavy cone gets it down and the rubber legs and profile wake up big predators. This fly is especially effective in the early season before the salmon arrive.

The Zuddler in Black is a premier searching fly for big trout. There are streams in Bristol Bay where this fly outfishes all others. The Kenai River has given up some massive winter rainbows on it, too.

We usually lead off with Black Zuddlers and if they aren't producing the Olive goes on next. A great sculpin-leech pattern that big trout love. Killer lake cutthroat or rainbow fly, too.

The original Copper Johns are just effective as ever. After the spring fry migration and before the late summer egg drop this is a killer rainbow fly. This late-June through July window provides the best opportunity to fish traditional dries and nymphs. Grayling will jump on this fly all summer, too.

Summer Hours: Monday – Friday 9AM – 6:00PM. Saturday 10AM – 5PM. Sunday Noon – 5pm. Orders are shipping daily.
