We have just a few of Rio's Skagit Max Short heads left.  It is an excellent head for switch rods as well as your single hand rod. The taper really loads your rod to allow easy casts and the ability to pick up big flies and deliver them. At the same time, the subtle taper generates smooth loops that really fly!

Alaskan trout in lakes can often be enticed with a big fly that is stripped in. They don't get much bigger or juicier than the Chernobyl Ant. This fly will leave you with a grin when that big trout, grayling or pike engulfs it.

Late August through September can have some great hatches of large mayflies known as Gray Drakes.  When these big guys are coming off, trout and grayling go to town.  The Hairwing Gray Drake is an awesome imitation that works well when large Parachute Adams are not.  This is also a great attractor pattern for doing dry/dropper rigs.

Rio has come up with a great solution to the problem of twists, kinks and wound up running lines. Every time you make a Spey or switch cast you are imparting a circular twist into your line. Add to that the tumbling action that occurs during the swing, particularly with short heads, and in very short order your running line will be twisted up and a mess when you try to shoot it. Enter the solution: Simply loop the Anti Twist Spey Swivel on the end of your running line and then loop the head to it. A small swivel in the middle allows the head to roll without kinking or winding up your running line. Tangle free casts are coming your way! 3 per pack and the color is high visibility orange.

The Golden Stone Perpetrator cleans house on early season trout when swung in the rivers of Bristol Bay. Cutts and Rainbows of Southeast, AK dig this pattern when fished in lakes and ponds. Don't forget steelhead too, they love a realistic buggy looking nymph, especially in low clear water. The Perpetrator is tied on a shank with a #6 trailing hook.
