The Purple Fish Taco is one of our favorites for steelhead and kings. It is tied with a bit of pink on the rear of the shank that imparts a nice subtle pop of color.

Due to its light weight and slender profile this is a great fly in small or medium sized rivers. The ostrich and flash come alive in the water and it doesn't hang up at the end of the swing. If you are fishing the Sandy River or other Alaska Peninsula king rivers, the Fish Taco should be in your box.

There is something about Pink/Black Articulated Hareballs that sticky upriver fish can't resist. Maybe it is the mostly dark fly with just hints of pink that wakes up the fish. Whatever the case, it works well for kings and coho when bright flies are not getting it done. Articulated Hareballs are 5 inches in length, have heavy lead eyes, and are constructed of rabbit wrapped over sparkly cactus chenille. They are the perfect combination of flash, big profile and action.

The Black & Blue Chinook Dirty Hoh is perfect for upriver kings that have turned off bright flies. It is spot on for big river steelhead as well. The Dirty Hoh Chinook version from Aqua flies is 4 inches in length, features a larger cone and a #1 Octopus hook. A combination of the legendary Intruder fly and string leech, the Dirty Hoh truly brings the best attributes of both flies and takes them up a notch. The front composite shoulder pushes water and maintains it profile while the hitched rabbit strips wiggles and pulses like only rabbit can. This is a fish catcher and you want some of these in your king fly box!

The Black/Chartreuse Strung Out Rockstar is a killer swinging pattern for kings and steelhead. Big and gawdy, yet light and easy to throw!  Rockstars are approximately 4 1/2 inches long and are only weighted by a small conehead. A terrific fly to fish and cast all day long.

Orange is not generally the first pattern out of the fly box, but it is a solid player. Kings, steelhead and silvers all have days when orange is the ticket.

The Fushcia - Shell Pink Flashtail Tube is a favorite of steedlhead, kings and coho. Not as over-the-top bright as many pink flies, this one will catch their attention but the shell pink front tones it down nicely. This fly is a real producer. Hartwick's Flashtail Tubes from Aqua Flies are just over 3 inches in length. They are tied with marabou, ostrich and flash. The marabou is tied in with a cone behind it so that it keeps a full profile in the water and is much more durable than a standard marabou tube fly. They are super wiggly in the water and still have a nice full profile.

Salmon Fat Fredddies are the first color that comes out of the box. Its a good idea to carry several colors since kings can be fussy. Fat Freddies are most effectively fished dead drift on a floating line with an indicator and split shot.

Take a Fat Freddie, add a heavy jig head and a dropper hook and your fly just got a lot more effective.  Sinks like a boss and looks like a sack of eggs.  Kings beware!

The Griz Turbo Cone Hot Pink & Orange color combination is an Alaska must. Hot pink and orange are often the go to combo for kings, steelhead and silvers that are ocean bright and pulsing in with the tide. A Situk steelhead winner if there ever was one!

Stu's Turbo Cone tube flies are great patterns for kings, steelhead and silvers. They are light and easy to cast, allowing the angler to use various sink tips to meet the water conditions. The fly comes ready to fish, including junction tubing and a size 2 stinger hook for easy set up. This hook can easily be traded out for a larger or smaller hook to match the fishing situation.

The Pink/Black Hareball is a classic "upriver" fly for silvers, kings and chum. It has just the right mix of dark with hints of attraction. Salmon that have been in the river for awhile are suckers for this fly!

The Blue and Black Trailer Trash is large in profile but very light weight. A lack of lead eyes make this one of the easiest to cast king and steelhead flies. This dark shaded pattern is ideal for late season and upriver fish that have turned off the bright flies.

The Purple & Pink Flashtail Tube will hook fish from the estuary to the headwaters! Subdued enough to not spook fish that have been in awhile but with just enough flash and profile to elicit mega-grabs from fish just pouring in from the salt.

The Wild Thing has been one of our top king and silver flies for the past few seasons. So adding a chartreuse version was a natural. Swing this baby for chrome kings, tidewater silvers and even chum. A 2 1/2″ long strung out-style fly, it has the perfect combination of weight, movement and flash. It now features a stronger, heavier wire Gamakatsu Octopus #1 hook.

The Black & Pink Metal Head Tube is money for steelhead. It is also a solid 'upriver sulky king' fly. The flowing marabou, nice profile and subtle pink mixed in all add up to a great fly.

Metal Head Tube flies feature the unique Ultra Sonic Cone. The cone has venting holes that make it easy to lift the fly out of the water and simultaneously create a vortex behind the disc. This allows the marabou to flow in the current and not collapse in heavy water.

Metal Head Tubes come ready to fish with junction tubing and a #2 hook that can be swapped out if it gets damaged. The fly is 2.5 inches in length.
