Question:

Is there a difference in diameter for Rio Tungsten sinktips from T14-T20?

Answer:

Hi,

Thank you for the inquiry. The T-20 has a slightly larger dia than the T-14.  They pack quite a bit more powdered tungsten to create the faster sink rate. T-14 means that there is 14 grains of wt per foot and T-20 weight 20 grains per foot,  hence the larger dia.

This differs from the tips that come in their line kits such as the Versi Tips. Those tips are rated by “type”. To keep the overall line weight the same, tips that rated by “type” all weight the same per line size. E.G. the tips for an 8wt. Versitip may all weight 165 grains each. To create a faster sink, these tips do slim down which allow them to drop faster.

I hope that this is helpful.
