Flesh and Eggs Fly Selection
$89.99 – $107.99
Much more than just a bunch of glo-bugs, the 36 patterns in this collection are some of the most realistic egg and flesh flies to be found. This box is a great way to outfit yourself for trout fishing. However, if you are fishing a full week you will want more flies than this. Going through a dozen flies a day is not uncommon. Includes Unreal Eggs, Gorman Beadhead Eggs in Hot Pink and Orange, Battle Creek Specials, Fish Emission Eggs, MOAL Rhoids, AFFG S.T.S. Leeches, Barely Legals, Alaskan Omelets and more..
Purchase the selection as Flies Only or get one of our custom Alaska Fly Fishing Goods fly boxes for an additional $18. The box is double sided slit foam and measures 7.5″ x 4″ x 1.75″.
We suggest fishing the egg patterns in this selection on a nymph-style leader set up. The goal is to get the fly near the bottom and let it drift naturally. Start with a Rio 9 foot Trout Leader in 2X (10lb) or 3X (8lb), tie on the Glo Bug and add split shot about 18″ up from the fly. If you aren’t sure what size split shot to use, start with BB.
Then add a strike indicator. Thing-A-Ma-Bobbers or Airlocks in 3/4″ size are our favorites. Place the indicator approximately 1.5 – 2 times the water depth away from the fly. For instance, if the water is 3 feet deep, place the indicator 4.5-6 feet from the fly. Adjust the indicator as needed to allow the fly to sink near the bottom while simultaneously allowing you to see strikes as soon as they happen.
