Purchase the selection as Flies Only or get one of our custom Alaska Fly Fishing Goods fly boxes for an additional $12. The box is double sided slit foam and measures 5.25″ x 3.5″ x 1.5″.
We suggest fishing sockeye flies on a nymph-style leader set up. The goal is to get the fly near the bottom at their eye level and let it drift naturally. Start with a Rio 9-foot Trout Leader in 1X (13lb), tie on the fly and add split shot about 20″ up from the fly. If you aren’t sure what size split shot to use, start with BB or 3/0. Flip the fly upstream at a 45-degree angle, mend and high stick the fly through the run. When the line goes taught, set the hook.
