The Cotton version of Mark’s Trout Food is an 8mm Trout Bead that is hand painted to create a washed out “dead egg.” These 8mm beads are very effective late in the season when fresh egg are no longer abundant.

Description
Our exclusive Troutfood hand painted beads are created by local Alaskan guides, have several coats of nail polish paint and then a clear coat on top for added durabilty. The Cotton, Cream and Apricot colors are new for 2023 and are part of our “dead egg” collection. An egg is considered dead when the proteins for the egg have broken down and the egg no longer a transparent orange or red. Eventually when enough of these eggs are abundant, the trout and char will stop keying in on fresh eggs and will go to eating these dead eggs. Cotton is the most “washed out” of the series and can be the ticket in the late season. Slide these in front of your favorite leech or sculpin to turn them into an “egg sucking” leech/sculpin.
