Question:

Hello, I am looking for info on what type , size and colors of some of the producing streamers for a river trip in Sept on the Wulik river. Some suggestions on the better streamer materials would also be appreciated. THANKS!

Answer:

Hi Terry,

Thanks for checking in with us. The Wulik should be a great float this September for the big searun Dollies.

Here is a link to a shopping cart of flies I put together for another angler doing the Wulik last year. It will at least give you an overview of what works well up there.

From my experience, the fish are not terribly selective. As long as you get the fly down to them they will likely eat it! Of course Dolly Llamas are good. I mostly use the White with the Red Throat version. But my buddy was fishing the Liquid Wrench Aleutian Queen and catching just as many fish as I was. And those two flies look nothing alike but they do get down to the fish.

Hope that gets you going! Also, those rivers are not very woody, so you don’t lose a lot of flies. Hence you don’t have to bring a massive reserve of back up flies.

Best of luck,

Brad
