Question:
Brad,
Looking for an assortment of flies for my first Alaska trip. (details below). Will need sufficient quantity to last this 18 day trip with no chance for resupply.
Am retired (72) and taking my first trip to Alaska in spring. Going with ArcticWild out of Fairbanks on an 18 day rafting/hiking trip on Kongagut River from June 5th to 26th this year. Outfitter is not a fisherman and hasn't provided much info on this fishery.
New to fly fishing and have very limited experience. Got a Douglas Sky 6wt, 9' 4 pcs with Galvin Torgue T-6 reel with SA Amplitude MPX line for Christmas. Have a spare 6 wt rod and reel that I will also bring as back up. Have primarily only fished dry flies from drift boat in Montana on Rock Creek and Clark Fork. No experience on throwing large streamers. Plan on taking lessons with a local fly fishing group this spring.
As this is a bucket list trip plan on spending $200-$300+ on tackle/gear. Is there a good day / time to call to discuss and place order.
