Question:
I am going to be in Fairbanks June 1-June 8 and am wondering what fishing opportunities there are? Are there any fish migrations going on then? If so, what type?
Answer:
Hi Gary,
Fairbanks in early June should provide some grayling fishing opportunities. Fairbanks is so far from saltwater that salmon fishing is not really an option and early June is before salmon start running anyway.
For grayling a 4 or 5 weight rod is ideal and dry flies often work well. Hope that at least gets you started.
If you need more information, fly options, etc just email mike@alaskaflyfishinggoods.com.
Best of luck!
