Question:
Hi Brad. I'm going to be fishing the Wulik River from Sept 2-10th. I searched your site and found several lists of dolly varden flies anglers have suggested. I'm just not sure if salmon will still be present in Sept, if eggs or flesh might be off the menu? I guess I'm looking for some help narrowing it down to some of must have flies. Any help would be appreciated.
Answer:
Hi Tony,
Thank you for your email. There should be some salmon spawning in the Wulik then. I would take some 8 and 10mm beads in Mottled Tangerine, Mottled Peachy King, Mottled Montana, Mottled Salmon or Shrimp, Glow Roe and Apricot. For flesh, maybe try drifting a Twofer, AK Omelette or Battle Creek. If you like to swing, try the Captain Kirk or Double Eggabou. Try to bring them up to the surface by fishing the orange Cousin It or the AK Gurgler #6 in flame or hot orange. This should be a lot of fun.
