Question:

Hi Brad

Going to be purchasing a good amount of flies here soon for my 3rd sheefish trip on the Kobuk this august. Any of your favorites that mimic a spoon the best? I purchased a few bad sea habits and genx bunny in 2018 from you and they worked well but wanted to see if you recommended anything else. Also thinking about using RIO Elite Predator F/S5/S7 for fly line and bringing an extra spool - any secondary lines you recommend? Will be throwing my 10wt and the section of river we usually fish is faster moving and deeper.

Any and all input is appreciated!

Answer:

Hi Jake

Mike here filling in for Brad. I have thrown together a few patterns that I would have in my box if I was going after the monster whitefish of the North. For lines, if you are looking to take a floating, grab the Predator.  If you are looking for something that will dredge deeper than the Predator S7, check out the Rio Premier 24′ Sink Tip. This density compensated line gets down. The 10wt is 400grains in the 24′ and drops at over 8″ a second. Please let me know if you have any questions or have issues opening your recommendations cart.
