Question:
This is my first year fly-fishing. We slayed pinks for practice and now want to try from something a little more changeling. I heard from some friends around area(Ketchikan) that October is a good time to start finding steelhead. What fly would you recommenced for the late fall season steelhead and trout?
Thank you!
Answer:
Hey Jesse,
Thank you for checking in with us. Most of the winter steelheading will be done by dead drifting small patterns under an indicator. It the temps are warmer, you and try swinging some flies or try drifting Dolly Llamas. Here is a link to a shopping cart that I made that will have some examples of what I would be fishing.
