Question:
I'm heading to Alaska in mid September to fish for big rainbows. I've been given an 11' switch fly rod and a nice large arbor Orvis Battenkill reel with extra spool. What Rio Scandi or Skagit flylines should I purchase?
Answer:
Hi Jack,
You’ll want to set yourself up with a Skagit style line for swinging fa sink tip with flesh and leeches. On your other spool you’ll probably want a line that you can use for indicator fishing/drifting beads, eggs and flesh. Line recommendations vary depending on the rod. You should send an email to our web manager as he is very knowledgeable in this arena. Mike can be reached at mike@alaskaflyfishinggoods.com. Be sure to include what rod model and size you will be taking. He’ll help get you lined up.
Best Regards,
