Question:
first trip to alaska and will be on Kongakut River in June for 18 day rafting/hiking trip to the Coast. what should I use for fly fishing this long stretch of water. Have 6 wt with floating line and an extra reel that can can use for different line. Leader / tippet X?
Answer:
Hi and thank you for the inquiry.
I have put together a cart with some fly recommendations. It consists of big streamers for the char and some dries, nymphs and small leeches for the grayling. A sinking line with short 10-12# leaders will be best for the char and 7.5-9′ 4x leaders will work great for grayling. Click on the following link to see my recommendations. Kongakut River in June
Have an amazing trip,
Mike
