Hi, I will be in AK from June 2-19. I’ve been fishing my whole life but only recently started flyfishing. I’ve got a 6WT and 4WT rod. I’ll be between Anchorage and Denali for a few days and then down around Kenai/Seward around the 11th. I’ve got four chartered days at the end, but I’ll be solo for the beginning of the trip. Looking for recommendations for flies. Looking at the regulations for the areas I’ll be, it looks like I’ll be limited to grayling and trout. Thanks! 2024-04-23T04:42:12-08:00| Read More
Hi, do the sizing on these boots account for the thicker neoprene sock of the waders? Thank you! 2024-04-22T17:34:23-08:00| Read More
Hi Brad, I was looking at the Redington Dually 8116-4 package on the website and it says that it comes with a Redington behemoth fly reel but in the picture it looks like the fly reel is a Echo. I was just wondering which reel actually comes with the package. I was also wondering how your price is so low because the dually by itself is a $300 rod and the behemoth is $120, as well as the Rio shooter line which is also $120. Do you get special pricing or something? Regards, Bohdi 2024-04-21T07:38:15-08:00| Read More
Hi Brad, I sent a email a few days ago. I am looking for a collection of flies for fishing Chignik (lakes and streams for trout, dollies, and sockeye) from early May to mid August. I was hoping you could help me pull together a selection of 24 flies. Greg 2024-04-09T17:57:47-08:00| Read More
We are looking at traveling to Alaska next May 2025 on a cruise that would stop in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Anchorage and Denali, Do you know which of these would have the best May Fishing opportunities? I really appreciated your cruise write up and was wondering if anything changed seasonally? 2024-04-08T03:13:51-08:00| Read More
Fishing the Situk out of Lenards Landing 7-27 for a week. You have box of flies for steelhead what would you change in that set to make it more specific to Pinks which is what we’re going after 2024-03-28T09:19:58-08:00| Read More
I’ve had good luck hooking fresh sockeyes on the Kenai and I made every attempt not to snag them and to avoid lining them. In clear water I have seen them grab the fly, especially a pink and purple maribou fly. Most people tell me they seldom hit flies but I disagree and I think I do better than the people flossing for sockeyes. Obviously the red ones are defensive and hit flies that get close but I am talking about silvery sockeyes on the upper Kenai. 2024-03-25T18:57:36-08:00| Read More
Hi, hope all is well. I’ll be fishing the Kanektok in mid-July and am looking to stock up on flies. What would you recommend? Thank you, Bryan 2024-03-22T18:49:39-08:00| Read More
Hi Brad. I will be making a trip to Juneau to visit my nephew from May 22nd to 26th. While there, I was planning to do some fly fishing with him. I plan to purchase the Spring sea-run Dolly Varden & cutthroat fly selection as coming from MT, my fly collection does not include any of these patterns. In the text it says; “We suggest fishing these flies on a floating line with a RIO 9 foot, 2x leader” and this is a bit puzzling to me. These flies seem to be subsurface flies. I have a RIO Premium Streamer tip 10-foot type 6 sink tip line on the reel I was planning to bring. Will the combination of these flies and the line I mentioned be a good set-up for fishing in the Juneau area toward the end of May? Thank you. Paul Koehler.
