I am heading to Alaska for a fishing trip and need a 6wt rod. I don’t use a 6 wt much in New England freshwater so I would prefer to have a rod that I might be able to use on saltwater flats (in addition to my 8wt), as that is where I fish most often at home. Is the Echo Boost Blue or Fresh best for this option? Any other rod recommendations in this price range? 2024-06-19T13:10:02-08:00| Read More

Hi! I am attending a work conference in Juneau in late August and was hoping to go fly fishing one day while I was over there. I fly fish some in Washington State, but because I am going to be solo, I was wondering if there were any good guide recommendations? I appreciate any advice:) 2024-06-12T10:29:31-08:00| Read More
Hey Brad. I’ve ordered some coho salmon flies from you over the years and they’ve been great! I’m looking to purchase a new fly rod for coho this fall. My last one was a fairly cheap 8wt and broke, so it’s time for something new. I’m looking for a 9 wt somewhere in the $400-600 range. Is there anything you’d recommend? Appreciate it! 2024-06-11T14:45:09-08:00| Read More
Hello, Do you sell packages of flies for a upcoming float trip to the Kisaralik River. I was told these are some of the type of flies needed – # 2 hooks are a good all around hook if necessary. Most flies that are specific for Alaska are all ready set up with the proper hook size. Dolly Lama: White and Oliver and Black and Oliver Sculpin Egg Sucking Leech Meat and Taters (flesh fly) Rusty Trombone Is this correct and Do you know of anymore types bot on the list? Hello, I am headed to Alaska June 11th-22nd and plan to fish mostly the first week. I have a 8wt Dully switch rod and plan to barrow a 8-12wt rod to through streamers depending on what I can find to barrow. I just need some recommendations on rivers and lakes near Anchorage to fish for Kings, sockeye, rainbows, and whatever else I can get my hands on but mostly want to catch some salmon. Also want to get recommendations for flys for them all. Thank you sir. 2024-05-28T10:10:21-08:00| Read More
I’m going to Iliamna Lodge the last week in July. They provide the flies but I wouldn’t mind a selection that they might not have (if for no other reason to psych my friends out). Do you have a suggestion? Thanks. 2024-05-15T06:28:07-08:00| Read More
I will be in Alaska for 2 weeks (Sept 7-21). 2 stops in Junea. I will have a car and plan to do the normal Mendenhal glacier walk but would like to stop at roadside river or creek to flyfish. I dont care about huge salmon and would prefer to catch and release something smaller on maybe a 5wt. Is that something in the area I could do and not have to bring waders or big rod? I’ll stop in for flys but am trying to reduce the gear since i am the only fisher i the group. Even if for a half hour or hour would be ok, just to try. Normally fish MI, CO, UT.
