Bears of Katmai [Video Duration -- 3:12 min]

During the summer of 2018, Bristol Bay saw the largest return of sockeye salmon in recorded history. Over 63 million sockeye returned to the rivers of Bristol Bay. In Alaska, lots of salmon means lots of bears. On a 9 day float trip we saw 56 different bears. 24 hours a day these bears are working up and down the river fishing for sockeye. Some bears were 100 feet away, and some much closer. Although there were so many bears, they rarely even looked at us. Their only interest was salmon.
