Troutfitters new location is at mile 48.5 of the Sterling Highway in Cooper Landing - a beautiful two hour drive from Anchorage.
As you exit the Anchorage airport follow signs for Seward Highway South. Enjoy the next two hours as you drive down the Turnagain Arm and into the Chugach Mountains. The Turnagain Arm has the second highest tides in the world with a 44 foot difference from high to low tides and 6 foot bore tides.
At the junction of Hwy. 1 and Hwy. 9 take a Right and follow the directions to Homer and the town of Kenai. Follow this for about 12 miles to Cooper Landing.
A few things to take note of as you enter Cooper Landing:
Mile 44: Sunrise Inn & Cafe - One of our favorites for breakfast or dinner. If you like relaxing in a tavern, you will like the Sunrise. Take it easy, shoot some pool, and have a satisfying dinner after fishing hard all day.
Mile 47: Kingfisher Restaurant: Great dinner spot with a full menu from steaks and seafood to burgers. Nice view over Kenai Lake, too. Just after Kinfisher is the Kenai River Bridge. Kenai Lake is to your left and the Kenai River begins here. The Boat Ramp is the next right hand turn. If your trip is starting at the boat ramp this is your exit.
Mile 48: As you continue on the road, the Cooper Landing Grocery is on your left. Good place to grab a sandwich and snacks for lunch. Just past the grocery Kenai Troutfitters will be on your right. Their sign is BIG and you can't miss it. All trips start at Troutfitters shop unless we have made specific arrangements with you.
