Golden Pheasant Crest - Dyed

Golden Pheasant Crests make beautiful tails and toppings on salmon flies.

Tying Tip: Pluck all the feathers off the crest and soak them in warm water. Then lay them over a bottle or cylinder and allow them to dry. This will straighen the feather and help it sit correctly on the hook.

Tying Tip #2: Select the exact part of the feather that will be tied to the hook. Take your non-cerrated flat nosed pliers and crimp the feather and flatten the stem at the tie in spot. This will help the feather sit straight on the hook.
