Bar Flies

7-9 pm at Silverbow Backroom.
 
An evening of fly tying and beer. We will be demonstrating and discussing local Dolly Varden flies, as well as having an open tying session. Tools and vises are first-come basis- Bring your own if you can. Materials provided for demonstrated patterns.

Shop Tying Nights
 
Beginning Tuesday, January 20th from 530-730pm.
 
This will be an open tying event, we will feature a different fly or technique each week. You can join in or tie whatever you like. Vises and tools are available to borrow or bring your own. A fun and relaxing atmostphere is the goal and you do not need to be a pro to join in.
 
It is a great way to beat the winter blues, meet some fellow anglers and start dreaming about spring fishing. Fly tying nights only go through the end of March, so don't wait!

Intro to Fly Tying Class

Learn to tie flies in less than two weeks! Our intro class focuses on learing solid tying techniques and features flies that slay fish locally. By the end of the 4 sessons, you will be able to tie 6 or more patters and have the skills to tie many more.
 
We'll also discuss local fishing spots, effective techniques, and additional flies you may want to learn to tie. Get a jump on the seasona nd you'll catch more fish this year. 
All tools and materials are included. Cost is $95 + Tax in advance. Class is limited to 6.; Instructors are Brad & Mike. Call the shop or stop in to sign up.

PRIVATE LESSONS

  • Want to learn to fly fish?
  • Want to learn new on-stream techniques to catch more fish?
  • Does your busy schedule not allow you to attend our regular classes?
  • Looking for one to one instruction?

A Private Lesson is just the ticket for you. Tell us what you want to do and we'll come up with a plan to make it happen. We offer instruction for singlehand or switch and spey casting.

Please note that this is not guided fishing. A current Alaska Fishing License needed.

Cost is $50 per hour. A typical beginning lesson is 3 hours and and an intermediate lesson is often between 2 and 4 hours.

RAINCOUNTRY FLY FISHERS

The Raincountry Fly Fishers are Juneau's local fly fishing club. They meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from January - May.

Meetings are held from 7-9PM. New members are always welcome.

JUNEAU AREA FLY FISHING MAP

We have created two maps of fishing areas on the Juneau road system.

You can click to view either map and print them out.
To find out what areas are currently fishing well, check out the latest Juneau Fishing Report or contact us.


Map #1 shows the entire road system as well as a blow up of the Mendenhall Valley.


Map #2 has detailed maps of four local areas: Echo Cove, Fish Creek, Peterson Creek, and Sheep Creek.
