Waders:
Most guests prefer Gore-tex waders. They act as rain pants while in the
boats and are by far the most comfortable waders. Plus they breath which
keeps you from getting ‘clammy’. Neoprene chest waders are pretty
good for the weather conditions in Alaska. Neoprene provides protection
from cold water and add a measure of protection in case of a sudden
dunking. We recommend a pair of fleece pants under your waders and on
the cold days adding a pair of polypropilene/capilene long underwear.
You should also bring a heavy pair of socks made of wool or
polypropilene/capilene material. Avoid cotton clothing for fishing.
Cotton is not a good insulator, is cold when it gets wet, and dries
very slowly. In Alaska, the saying goes, “cotton kills.”
