Southeast (aka the Panhandle) is one of the most pristine and uncrowded places in Alaska to fly fish. It only takes a short boat ride or flight to be away from it all and into the fish. Whether you have just a day to fish or a whole week, Searunner Guide Service is our choice for guided fly fishing in Juneau. Searunner is the only fly fishing guide service in Juneau to offer both boat-based and fly-out trips.

Whether cruising aboard a covered 20' Wooldridge boat or flying over remote islands and waterways in a DeHavilland floatplane, Searunner will get you to where the fish are. You will have access to uncrowded streams, inlets, and channels where you can experience Alaska's solitude at its best. You will most likely be fishing for one of the following 6 species of fish: Dolly Varden, Cutthroat Trout, King Salmon, Chum Salmon, Pink Salmon or Coho Salmon. The biggest factor that determines what kind of fish you will find on the other end of your line is the time of year. For more information on fish run timing in Southeast click here. Wildlife such as bald eagles, bears, whales, dall porpoise, harbor seals, stellar sea lions, and sea birds are commonly seen on our trips.

Your Trip
Your guide will pick you up at your pre-arranged place and time. Most trips begin at Juneau Fly Fishing Goods, our local fly shop, where you will meet your guide and pick up any last minute items needed for the day's adventure. You will then transfer to the airport or the harbor and after a safety briefing embark on a scenic trip to a remote stream. Waders, fishing gear, flies, and lunch will be provided, although you are welcome to bring any personal gear you have. Your guide will have fishing licenses on hand for sale for those who don't already have them.

Upon arriving at the mouth of the stream, the gear is assembled and casting instruction is provided to novices. You'll fish with the assistance of your guide and enjoy the beauty, wildlife and solitude of your selected stream. The beaches tend to be quite rocky and usually some hiking is involved. On some trips, we may be hiking along the stream banks, through the forest, and over uneven terrain.

The fish availability and specific itinerary for your trip will depend on the time of year, weather and tide conditions, and the overall physical condition of the group. All trips are catch and release. Both half and full day trips are available.
